Workshops and Residencies
Our programs offer schools the opportunity to explore the process of using the arts to enhance student success. Workshops and residencies are tailored to the specific needs of the classroom teacher or organization, ensuring a customized experience for all participants. Program fees are nominal, typically covering the cost of a substitute teacher for a planning day. These workshops are made possible through grant funding.
Arts Integration
BOOKS THAT DANCE!
This residency will guide children to improvise imaginatively in response to the language and visual imagery from children’s books. (Examples: The Tiny
Seed, Esperanza Rising) Grades PK-8.
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING
This residency will explore the basics of dance/movement, includes a writing day, a visual arts component, and culminates with students creating and sharing original choreography around one of the 5 components of SEL. Grades PK-8.
DANCE @ SCHOOL
He Dance @ School curriculum is aligned with National Core Arts Standards and the Alabama
Course of Study, Dance is taught by a certified teacher (Alabama Professional
Educator Certificate, Dance P-12) includes standards-based weekly lesson plans, formative, and
summative assessments can be taught as direct instruction or arts integrated lessons
Dance @ School can also provide PD for your teachers interested in using arts integrated teaching methodologies.

FIRST POSITION
An introduction to dance principles, improvisation, and basic dance skills. Early Childhood World of Dance Introduction to basic dance skills, history and culture of selected dance genres, and the study of the World Dances: i.e. Salsa, Tarantella, Gumboot, Hip Hop, and more. Dance studies can be tied to social studies curriculum (i.e. U.S. or World).

Professional Learning
Our Professional Learning program introduces dance pedagogy and provides resources to support the use of creative movement in P-12 classrooms. The program addresses the psychomotor, affective, and cognitive domains of learning, offering a holistic approach to teaching. Workshop participants will actively explore basic dance concepts and consider how to adapt them to their specific content areas. Program fees are nominal. These workshops are made possible through grant funding.
